Giving Back

Lately, my candidates have been similar in age (about 50-62), and have shared with me very similar goals for owning a franchise. These candidates have done well over the years in Corporate America, and now—as they look forward to their next step after retirement, lay-off, or ambition change—they want to invest in a business that gives back to their local community.

I enjoy working with this type of candidate, and have found that these goals are easily attainable. Franchising provides a unique and impactful platform for entrepreneurs to not only build successful businesses, but also make tangible differences in their local communities in several key ways:

1) Local job creation and economic growth: Franchises are significant contributors to local employment, offering jobs across various sectors and skill levels. They also infuse money into the local economy through spending on supplies, utilities, services, and local sourcing, fostering the growth of other local enterprises and supporting the community’s economic ecosystem.

2) Community involvement and engagement: Franchises can partner with local charities, nonprofits, schools, churches, and community groups, aligning with their values and customer demographics. This can involve sponsoring events, providing financial donations, offering volunteers, or donating a portion of sales. For example, sponsoring recreational leagues or school athletic teams builds goodwill and reinforces positive values.

3) Direct social impact: Some franchises are specifically designed around social impact, aiming to address critical community needs like healthcare, education, or environmental safety. These concepts also provide owners with community engagement opportunities and open the door to meaningful local partnerships.

So if you have a goal of owning your own business and want to impact your local community, consider setting up a call to learn more. Giving back to the community through franchising offers a powerful avenue for you to achieve entrepreneurial success while simultaneously making a positive and lasting impact on the place you call home.
